When you see a GREEN FLASHING LIGHT in a vehicle, it is a volunteer, rushing to an EMERGENCY such as a fire, a residential, road or waterway accident.

They are our first responders.
They are our neighbours.
They stand ready to help whoever needs help.
They are heroes every day.
Please pull over and allow them to pass.
They are a rural lifeline, saving lives and properties.
You can also cycle to or from Sharbot Lake and Snow Road Station by way of the K&P trail, a long, multi-purpose (trail)path, the former railbed of the Kingston / Pembroke Railway.
SHABOMEKA PATH NETWORK
A local group of enthusiasts, under the strange name of "Shabomeka LEGPOWER Pathfinders" has spent years developing and maintaining 60 kilometers of "people power" paths. The name is derived from a local lake name.
This web of paths totals about 60 km. There are no path fees, but even your token contribution would help this non-funded group maintain this super network of paths on Crown (government) Lands
These paths are for pedestrian, peddle, and ski enthusiasts and are not for motorized vehicles. They range from easy to challenging. The paths are maintained by private individuals, in a labour of love, to your benefit. Please respect these people's commitment in money, time and labour. The paths are not machine groomed, but are open to ski touring.
No user fees are required, but as mentioned earlier, any token of support helps defray the cost of equipment and certain consumables used to maintain the path systems.
You'll find these paths near Cloyne, which is on highway 41.
A PATH MAP is available. Again, as this is a private endeavour, please send a STAMPED, SELF-ADDRESSED ENVELOPE to
Shabomeka Paths
PO Box 217,
Cloyne,
ON K0H 1K0
GO PREPARED! Bring your own equipment, and remember you are using these Crown Lands paths AT YOUR OWN RISK. Prepare for wilderness. Compass, map, strongly recommended. Leave a note or tell someone near the pathhead, ... just in case.
No facilities are provided.
Practice "NO TRACE" ethics privately promoted in the early 1970's by Gerry Cunningham.
Remember to be thankful to the people who labour so hard for your benefit, and remember them when you talk to local, regional or provincial government people. You will help the governments to hear that there is a strong case for eco-friendly tourism. We, in the Northern end of Frontenac County Ontario, thank you for your support.
For lodging, seek out local providers in this fabulous region
Take Hwy 41 to Head Rd north of Cloyne, Ontario. Go east on Head Rd, then north on Shabomeka Lake Rd for 6 km. Continue on Shawenegog Lake Lane 0.5 km to # 1067.
Respect private and Crown properties, lands, and waters. No smoking while moving. Prevent forest fires. (pst! Pass it on.)
