This part of the Clyde River Water Trail is about 6 km long. At the start there is room to park cars at the bridge outside of the area reserved for the volunteer fire department to fill up with water. Do not block access to the pipes there. Allow for large fire truck access. You will be fine/and/or towed.
You can do a bicycle shuttle here if your team has only one vehicle. It's not a really long ride from one end to the other. Maybe three quarters of an hour.
About mid-way on the run there is a ledge, requiring a portage of about twenty paces, around it on the west shore.
Check out the rapids at Herron's Mill before you start. Do not run the dam at Herron's Mills. There is underwater steel reinforcement bar, anchored in concrete. Personal and equipment injuries and worse could happen. Dams are always dangerous areas. Be sure you have the skills to stop before the river sweeps you into the dam site. Consider contacting Adventure Agent for skills development.
In summer, the approach to the dam may be a walk-through, due to low water level. Then you can expect lots of scrapes on your boat, and rought walking in the water. We suggest that if you're going further downstream, you portage this area. Seek landowners' permission first. Trespass is a crime ... and may be hazardous to your health.
You will encounter some old log structures from a former bridge. Stay right. You will soon be at the approach to the Herron's Mill rapids.

Any obstruction on a river, no matter how it got there, is a hazard. Always be prudent. Rapids can have dear consequences, even inocent looking rapids. Slow-moving water is easily underestimated. Study, instruction, and experience are the right way to a long practice of river-running. Use a team approach. DON'T TAKE FOOLISH CHANCES!
