Another ADVENTURE AGENT initiative. By means of excellent pave roads, this bicycle ( bike, cycle ) route ( trail ) is located just an hour or so from Kingston and Ottawa, and about 20 minutes from
Sharbot Lake, Lanark and Maberly and 45 minutes from Perth. Here, you're cycling in another world. Bike (mountain and road) routes/trails are near the Mississippi River where it breaks over the shearline of the Canadian Shield. As a part of your bike trip, try kayaking with Adventure Agent.

Given the nature of this area, and that pricing reflect the availability of goods, we suggest that you purchase your fuel and other supplies before you get to Snow Road.
You can lengthen the bike route or trail described below by adding the Gully Road. With this addition, the bicycle route loop becomes about an 11 kilometers long trail. Cycle westerly to Highway 509, turn your bike left. Bike about 4 km further, and at Mississippi Station, another former rail stop on the old "Kick and Push Railway" ( K&P ). You will bike easterly on this gravel road. Near the intersection is the Free Methodist church (Sunday evening services), and a small, low, one-lane concrete bridge.

Cycle on. Visit the black work horses on your left. These are the Percheron breed of workhorse. Bike on, past the Hair Looms, family hair care (Tues-Fri 9-5; Thu eve BY APPOINTMENT; Sat 9 - 1; 613 278 2196. Tell 'm where you got the number), and then on the the next intersection. This is the Elphin-Maberly Road. This park is on the shore of Smith's Bay.
There is a "privy" (outhouse) at the intersection of Elphin-Maberly Road and Gully Road.
Gasoline, water, supplies, permits and licenses should be purchased at Sharbot Lake General Store, which has great variety and good prices.
Often there is an "out of this world", extremely high end bluegrass concert in Snow Road, near the end of the month in the warm season. Add this to your bike tour, and you'll enrich it by a thousand per cent. Another benefit to your bike ride is that the local Firefighters host a venue selling soft drinks, coffee, hot dogs, hamburgers, sausage, coffee and sweets. This goes to buy equipment for the people who put their lives on the line to save other people. You are supporting volunteers' work when you buy from them. They spend many hours training in their spare time, to help you or me. Time your cycle trip right, and your visit to the Snow Road Station area will be full of added benefits. And you'll feel the pulse of rural life.
When you see a GREEN FLASHING LIGHT in a vehicle, it is a volunteer, rushing to an EMERGENCY such as a fire, a residential, road or waterway accident.
They are our first responders.
They are our neighbours.
They stand ready to help whoever needs help.
They are heroes every day.
Please pull over and allow them to pass.
They are a rural lifeline, saving lives and properties.
You can also cycle to or from Sharbot Lake and Snow Road Station by way of the K&P trail, a long, multi-purpose trail, the former railbed of the Kingston / Pembroke Railway.
Happy cycling. Now, GET OUT THERE.
