SEPT 27 07 - CANOE AND KAYAK PROMOTION FOR MORATORIUM
...
A traditional birchbark canoe and 2 large escort canoes plus a flotilla of settler canoes will launch on the 22 Sept at Ardoch Ontario at Chief Harold Perry's place, the location of the Historical Rice War, on Mud Lake and Crotch Lake and begin the journey from the headwaters of the Mississippi watershed down to Ottawa.

We will be carrying 2 maidens from the Shabot Obaajiwan and Ardoch Algonquins as water carriers to transport water ceremonially from the headwaters to Parliament Hill.

The water and the message of our demand for a Moratorium on Uranium Mining will be poured out on the steps of the Parliament Buildings in a proclamation to the Government of Canada. Its time to stand for Mother Earth! ...

We will be ... making stops with a reception on Tuesday 25 in Carleton Place (morning) and Almonte (aftrnoon).

We need you and your canoe on Saturday the 22 September at 11AM - AND -

we need you and your canoe or kayak to join us on the Ottawa River from 25 to 27 of September along with the Algonquin nations and non native protesters from Quebec province, to paddle to Victoria Island, the Sacred neutral territory of the Alginquins.

The Chiefs have blessed and are accompanying on this journey. Grandfather William Commanda will receive us there at Victoria Island on the afternoon and evenning of Thursday 27 Septembr. The Dalai Lama is in Ottawa and has been invited. Canoes and Kayaks can be brought to Victoria island and kept securely overnight or early Friday for the Canoe Protest on the morning of
Friday 28 September.

All and everyone that loves the Earth and the Waters that flow upon it can support us there. If you cannot paddle with us, at least come with your canoe to join with us in a powerful Final Portage to Parliament Hill on
Friday 28 September at noon to deliver our message to our "vacant" seat of Canada's Federal Government.

PLEASE BRING YOUR CANOE or KAYAK.

After the rally on Parliament Hill, we will continue to the Rideau Canal and paddle up to Dow's Lake. From there the message will be taken to Dalton McGuinty's riding ofice. In the afternoon there will be an Energy Forum at the Odawa Friendship Center (12 Stirling Avenue) to examine the prospects of alternatives to a nuclear future with many speakers and presentations and a lot of information about Uranium mining. Power to Choose Ottawa Forum (ActCity Ottawa) www.voteforcleanenergy.ca/power_to_choose http://ato.smartcapital.ca/actcity All are welcome to participate on this.

We need HELP. We need you.

... Please don't miss this opportunity to stand in unity with us on this very important issue. We cannot steal the future from our Grandchildren. David Gill

The information provided above relates to the potential development of a Uranium mine at Robertsville Ontario. The Robertsville uranium mine would be developed at Robertsville, near Sharbot Lake, North Frontenac Township, Frontenac County, in Eastern Ontario. Robertsville was one of several small community stops on the Kingston & Pembroke Railway line. Now reliant on tourism and mineral and timber extraction, the Robertsville mine does not bode well for eco tourism, which the County and the Townships have been trying to promote.
