Advice about Insects
There actually may be very few insects. It depends on the time of year, the location, time of day, temperature, and all. Insects and bugs are like you and me. They have conditions they prefer, and conditions they'd rather not be near.
It is prudent, however, as the Boy Scouts of America say, be prepared. Today we have some creatures whose habitat is extending north, such as the o'possum. We also have insects such as the black fly, the mosquito, and there is the deer tick, which can cause Lyme disease, and now, we have the West Nile Virus. We have equipment that has allowed us to better cope with Mother Nature, but she's pulling out some new tricks.
These are serious illnesses.
Investigate.
Take precautions.
Use your own choice of repellant.
Choose clothing by colour, weight and weave for the purpose of helping to make your adventure comfortable.
Tucking clothes in, having snug cuffs, is useful in some circumstances, but perhaps there is a need for loose cuffs. It all depends on the varying circumstances in which we find ourselves.
