SHARBOT LAKE - GATEWAY TO THE NORTH FRONTENAC WILDERNESS
Based in Snow Road Station, Ontario, we are a convenient, scenic drive from SHARBOT LAKE, along rolling, winding, and excellent roads. A home based business, we operate out of a log house on an island in the middle of the Mississippi River, on the McLaren Depot Snye.
The main branch, here at the island, has a rapid of about 800 metres, and can be a class iv in the spring. We're at the interface of Lanark Highlands, Madawaska Highlands, North Frontenac and the Land o' Lakes, a magnificent area of hills, rivers, lakes and old growth forests.
People from Wesport, Kingston, Belleville, Gananoque and Ottawa refer to the area north of Sharbot Lake as "God's Country ". Well, God certainly DID bless this Land O' Lakes area, with the Missisisippi River and some 5000 lakes. They recognize this as the accessible wilderness, because of its proximity, and excellent paved roads.
