OUR FOCUS IN LANARK HIGHLANDS, LANARK COUNTY

Based in Snow Road Station, Ontario, we are mid way along the 200 kilometre long Mississippi River. Many don't know that Canada has a Mississippi River, but here it is. A home based business, we operate out of a log house on an island in the middle of the Mississippi River. The island is located in North Frontenac, and the rapids, just about a kilometre upstream from us, are at the McLaren Depot Snye. The Snye rejoins the main branch of the Mississippi River just downstream from home.

The main branch, here at the island, has a rapid of about 800 metres, and can be a class iv in the spring. Downstream, about 1500 metres, is the Lanark County border. The border also is the westerly edge of North Lanark Highlands Township, a magnificent area of hills, rivers, lakes and old growth forests.

Snow Road station and this part of Lanark County (Lanark Highlands) is also the edge of the Madawaska Highlands. The Adventure Agent base is at the very hub of these vast wilderness areas of Lanark Highlands, Madawaska Highlands and the Land O' Lakes. Lady Luck and the Good Lord struck some sort of deal, because as far as nature and wilderness goes, this place is unique, without a doubt.

Kingston, Belleville, Gananoque and Ottawa kayak or canoe enthusiasts refer to this area as "God's Country ". Well, God certainly DID bless this Land O' Lakes area, with the Missisisippi, Salmon and Clyde rivers, and some 5000 lakes. They recognize this as the accessible wilderness, because of its proximity, and excellent paved roads.

The best way to get to know this land is by canoe or kayak, because of your pace and closeness to the environment.
