Persons legally blind have enjoyed themselves in our floating adventures as well. Our guests have ranged in weight from lightweights to two hundred and seventy-five pounds, the upper limit of our boats' capacity. OUR PRODUCT IS SKILL WE SPECIALIZE IN SKILLS. We don't retail any hardware products. Come to Adventure Agent confident that you will not be pressured into buying anything. Any product suggestion is not because we want to make a sale. We're about how to paddle well and safely. We give confidence and competence to having fun on the water, out 'n about 'n a boat. For your SMART START to kayaking. Come to Adventure Agent. OUR CLIENTS' TESTIMONIALS Every season we get great feedback. See some of it: Link here. WE'RE NOT NEW TO KAYAKING Garth Brooks sang "Blame it all on my roots ..." Dating back to our Voyageur roots with Champlain in early 1600, we've got a marine history. We personally started kayaking about 40 years ago; we've got a kayaking history. We've seen a lot, learned a lot. This isn't following a trend. It's more than certifications and papers. This is a life-long passion we want to share. That's why we started this home-based business. ADVENTURE AGENT WELCOMES SOLO GUESTS Being true to our own roots, Adventure Agent encourages solo guests. Fully Independant Travellers ( F.I.T. ) are welcome to take a kayak tour or lesson with Adventure Agent. Or rent a unit for a short jaunt from our base here at Snow Road Station. In fact, much of Adventure Agent's business is the Fully Independant Traveller ( F.I.T. ) and on short notice. Make it part of your journey, and consider a local B&B or Campground, to learn more about our region. SMALL GROUPS ARE WELCOME TOO With our history of organizing and instructing Provincial Instruction Clinics, trip leading in clubs and solo on Ontario's whitewater and the great Georgian Bay, we understand the dynamic of group travel. SHORT NOTICE IS O.K. AT ADVENTURE AGENT Adventure, by definition is often an impulsive happening. In today's economy, one can't always plan far in advance. Our personal history includes quick departure from the city to wilderness places like the Sharbot Lake and Land o' Lakes region. We understand that while on a tour, you may just get the urge for something like kayaking. Feel free to act on that impulse to paddle a canoe or kayak for a break. REDUCE THE RISK. Kayaking has probably a better safety record than automobile driving. Still, there are many "adventures" that happen by accident or poor planning, or just from insufficient skills. Judgement can be learned. There is good cause for taking Adventure Agent paddling instruction by you or your loved ones. DO MORE THAN KAYAK: Take kayak lessons and/or a kayak tour, and extend the fun a few more days. Distinctive bed & breakfast (B&B) is available only in conjunction with Adventure Agent programming. Camping is within 6 miles. Before or after your kayak adventure you can enjoy world-class, 5-star cuisine, just minutes away. Add a kayak lesson and tour when you visit nearby golf courses. Several golf courses are in the area. Golf in this wilderness is a new experience. It's much quieter, and the air seems cleaner. Better golf, better health. The rest of the family or friends can kayak while you golf. AMONG LINKS ON THIS SITE: Our occasional BLOG, Nature information, our historic birch-bark canoe brigade to Ottawa, fishing, fishing licenses, Special events, information about FIRES, Fire bans and fines, about emergency vehicles, nearby provincial parks, nearby resorts, testimonials, our SHUTTLE SERVICES (help for your own paddling, cycling, hiking trip), what to bring, water levels/flow, poetry. BIKE TRAILS, WATER TRAILS Trails and road routes thread these hills. Water trails: Mississippi River, Clyde River, Tay River, Dalhousie Lake. Bike trails, like golf courses, seem just that much more special here. Choose a bike route or trail on a paved or gravel route, or get off into the roads / trails where bikes rule. A kayak adventure will fit in perfectly, adding refreshing water recreation to your road or trail bike trip, or an a.t.v. stop. Even find out about our local xc ski trail WANT TO KAYAK BUT DON'T HAVE A CAR? Some folks want to kayak, but don't have a car. The Trans-Canada Highway, (#7) is just 15 minutes south of us. There is a bus stopping point there, which is about an hour from Ottawa and from Kingston. Take the bus that far, and for a service fee, we could pick you up at Sharbot Lake, to start your kayak adventure. (Pre-arrangement mandatory.) GREYHOUND SCHEDULE RAIL TO KINGSTON OTTAWA, KINGSTON, BELLEVILLE, BROCKVILLE, GANANOQUE, TORONTO and all points between; it doesn't matter. Adventure Agent is the little home-based business that is accessible by excellent paved roads. Kingston, Belleville and Gananoque kayak or canoe enthusiasts merely drive up Road 38 to Highway 7, at Sharbot Lake, turn left, take the next right onto 509 to Snow Road. Kingston people refer to this area as "God's Country ". Well, God certainly DID bless this Land O' Lakes area, with the Missisisippi, Salmon and Clyde rivers, and some 5000 lakes. Ottawa canoe and kayak enthusiasts recognize this as the accessible wilderness, because of its proximity, and excellent paved roads. For folks from Gananoque, Belleville, and Brockville, this glorious hub of the Lanark Highlands, Madawaska Highlands and Land O' Lakes is still "God's Country". Whether it's the buildings and traffic of Ottawa, Brockville, Belleville or Gananoque, a kayak tour in this Land O' Lakes is a refreshing break, and will show you the meaning of "recreation". Coming from Toronto? Guests from Toronto do make it a day trip, so come on out. You'll definitely enjoy a stay at a B&B or campsite. Kayak and canoe tripping in the Land O' Lakes is far less crowded than Algonquin, and maybe more beautiful. Take the 401 east to 38 (at Kingston) and north to 7 (at Sharbot Lake), jog west a block, then north on 509. Or take 7 east until you meet 509, then turn north 15 minutes and you're in " God's Country ", Snow Road Station - Adventure Agent country - at the heart of North Frontenac Parklands.
