BEAVER TOURS

  PRICING, CDN: $40.00 P/P
  DATES available May - Sept
  DURATION 2 hours

Beaver. Just that one word speaks about Canada. For many decades the beaver decorated our coins. The primary level of Scouting in Canada is classified as " Beavers ". Happy children have a felt beaver tail at the back of their cap. A franchise of tasty dessert foods has sprung up under the name of " Beaver Tails ".

During the 2006 Olympics Canadians were exposed to Beavers in a series of charicaturizations of human roles. They lounged about in human furniture, mimicing human characteristics as they promoted a cell phone.

BEAVERS ARE IN EASTERN ONTARIO

Historically, the Beaver was a main resource when Canada was being settled. It formed a very strong economic base. The historical value of beaver pelts is known to Canadian children. Serious they have been, and funny they have been.

They still are serious. There are areas where the beaver is considered a real problem. They cut trees without permits, and without consideration of established property lines. They flood lands, roads and buildings as a result of their industrious and very good work in building dams. They impede waterways.
Nonetheless, they are still a creature of the wild, and not everyone has seen them, their dams, the damage they do, or their wood -and-mud, and shorebank home sites.

We will attempt to find these once-prized creatures and endeavour to observe their life-style " In Real Time ".

No doubt we will also see some of these as well: Trilliums, ( Ontario's provincial emblem ) fish eagles, bald eagles, loons, frogs, otters, deer and others. Seeing a beaver cannot be guaranteed, but " the journey is the destination ", as they say.

SENIORS / ADULT ADVENTURES

  PRICING, CDN: $60.00 P/P
  DATES available May - Sept
  DURATION 3 hours

Kayaking is for adults. As adults, we have our own way of doing things. We're interested in learning new things, but not necessarily everything, and most likely only what we feel will be important. We're not necessarily out to set records or tame wild animals within or without. Adults have our own pace. We choose our activities according to what mood we're in, or maybe according to what shape we're in. Peer pressure has less impact on us than it has on younger folks.
KAYAKING GIVES SENIORS WINGS
Join us on the waters of the Missisisippi River. There's scenery and living stuff all around. You can hear it, you can see it, you can smell it, you can taste it. Best of all, you can experience it. Up close and " in yer face."

Ah, beautiful.
SENIOR KAYAK TRIPS
Adventure Agent starts off with a discussion of boats, paddles, and safety equipment, then demonstrate how to use it, how to get in, and then dry land demonstration of how to paddle. Then we follow that by actually getting into the boats, and heading off to learn how to paddle on this very special river, and in particular, this unique place in the river.

A real, rock-punchin' paddle poke, with a good sense of humour is the leader.

CHILDREN OF ALL AGES ENJOY THE FUN OF KAYAKING!

We suggest that parents consider taking an ( link here ) introductory session with Adventure Agent. That way, you'll be able to talk about your child's experience with a much better understanding. and besides, parents should have some child-like fun too, don't you think? I mean, you deserve it.
Parents may also rent a canoe or kayak, to tag along with their child's adventure. Such equipment may or may not be available, due to scheduling. Confirm this option when you contact us.

Our children's kayak experiences will be held where it is convenient for parents to park, observe, relax, have a picnic if they want, and chat to other parents. So, make a day of it. Adventure Agent will direct you to the nearest eatery when you ask.

YOUTH EVENTS / ACTIVITIES

  PRICING, CDN: $60.00 P/P
  DATES available May - Sept
  DURATION 3 hours

Wanna be cool? Think about Olympics sports. It's tough to master a sport. It's tough to master the style. It's tough to qualify for the City, Regional, and the Provincials. Then there's the Nationals. After all of that stuff, with your suitcase full of medals, you've got to do a lot more work. You have to impress a lot of people to get on the Olympic team. It's no miracle. It's hard work every day, every hour, every minute; for years. If you kick it up a notch at every chance, you get to go. Once you're on the Team, there's even more pressure from above and below.

Well, it just happens that kayak paddling is one of the coolest sports around. Like, at the last Summer Olympics, in Greece, the kayak venue had the highest number of spectators of all venues. You wonder why? Well, give it a try here at Adventure Agent. You'll know why.

YOUTH KAYAK TRIPS, TOURS, INSTRUCTION amd FUN

Oh yeah. By the way, did I mention that CANADA WON THE GOLD MEDAL at the 2005 Summer Olympic Games in Greece. Sweet Canadian victory. I mean, paddling in Canada goes way back, to before my family came here in the 1600's. As a national activity, it pre-dates hockey, if you can imagine that.

Adventure Agent isn't about setting regional, provincial, or national standards. We're about you. You and fun. You and gettin' movin'.

Kayaking is a fun way to get moving. It can be as gentle as you choose. Or, it can work from your finger tips to your shoulders, those big back muscles, your stomach muscles, and those muscles that wrap around your hips and stomach area, as well as your thighs, your calves and your toes. Honest! If you do it right. If you want to add some neck muscles to it, you'll do some blistering fast kayak rolls. Give your head a shake! This is fun! You can do it. We'll be here to show you and help you.

Join us in the valley, on the waters of the Missisisippi River. There's scenery and living stuff all around. You can hear it, you can see it, you can smell it, you can taste it. Best of all, you can experience it. Up close and in yer face.

ECO KAYAK TOURS

  PRICING, CDN: $60.00 P/P
  DATES available May - Sept
  DURATION 3 hours

Variable start times, locations

Some folks have heard the word "ECO", in the context of global warning and environment. However, the term "ECO" in the context of tourism has a smaller scope. Eco tours, basically, are tours that bring to light the local developments of housing, farming, industry, roads, and natural events, as they relate to the local environment.
ECO TOURS - WHERE MAN AND NATURE MEET

Eco tours generally bring some strength to the local economy, as well. Eco tours may also bring a more global attention to an area as well.

Eco tours by kayak and canoe provide an opportunity to see a great deal of the natural world in the air, on the shore, under and at the water's surface. Insight into man's historical, current and future developments for the area add to your knowledge and quality of experience.
Location, duration may vary. We have a vast inventory of waterways to splash down, and it's all interesting and fun.

Eco tours also have a minimal negative impact on the local environment too. An added benefit of most eco tours is the physical involvement of the participants. As petro fuels are not used during the outings, impact is minimized, while one learns how to travel in the natural world with little noise, fuel and shoreline damage. An Adventure Agent Eco Tour is a great way to introduce yourself to the arts of kayaking and to eco tours.

MOONLIGHT TOURS

  PRICING, CDN: $60.00 P/P
  DATES available May - Sept
  DURATION 3 hours

Cool evenings are a wonderful retreat after a hot day. Our senses shift too. We perceive things in a different manner, as our visual perceptions are less useful. As well, the scents of the day change, as flower close down for the night. Winds generally subside, and the wildlife that retreated because of visibility and heat begin their nightly cycle of hunting and prowling.

Sounds are key, and yet the eyes also reach to touch the shapes and hues of moon-cast silhouettes. Dark objects seem to reflect lighter in shades and lighter coloured objects seem are perceived as darker. Our senses are tested in different manner. Late evening and night paddling are an adventure.
Loons laughing, beaver slapping, night hawks swooping, distant bird calls, muskrats swimming, owls hooting and screaming, ear-splitting frog choruses, and the silhouette of forested hills; it's all overlaid with the sound of distant rapids. We will go down channels of pitch-black water, through narrow channels and into wide bulges in the river. Listening for all of this, and seeing a sky of stars that is so clear, it will seem out-of-this-world.

Under the Dark Sky of Eastern Ontario, an Adventure Agent Moonlight Tour is a revelation of the awakening night life that is in the air, the water and the forest. Be dazzled or be bedazzled when the contrast of white stars, or meteors flavour the scene. Remember that August is meteor shower time, and if the skies are clear, this is a time of romance and marvel. And it's super marvelous here, in " The Forgotten Land You Won't Forget".
MOONLIGHT BY KAYAK - AN EXTRAORDINARY EXPERIENCE

For night tours, Adventure Agent provides flashlight, boat, paddle, personal floatation device, and your guide, a real, rock-punchin' paddle poke.

While we don't anticipate any difficulties, we suggest that you consider taking an additional introductory session with Adventure Agent, (link here) to learn safe boat handling procedures and such.

NATURE TOURS

  PRICING, CDN: $40.00 P/P
  DATES available May - Sept
  DURATION 2 hours

Variable start times, locations

Lynda Russell and Dave Martin lead a kayak and canoe trip, seeing what Mother Nature is serving up this spring. An absolutely keen observer of nature, and a fun paddling accompanist, Lynda is attuned to who came first this season, when, how many, and maybe where they are.
She can point out the tiny flowers that are somewhat seldom seen and tell you something about the whole picture.
NATURE TOURS by KAYAK
Bird calls, nests, fish nests, snapping turtles, mud turtles, beavers, osprey, eagles, four legged creatures, and the great chorus of frogs may be part of the tour. Nothing is for certain, given that Mother Earth has her own palette, and chooses the textures on impulse. So each hour of the day may be a new discovery.

Lasting about 2 hours, at a cost of $40 per person, cash, all in. Bring your water protected binoculars. Remember: We can't guarantee that the wildlife will cooperate.

CONFIRM WITH US, PLEASE.
